Statement by the Flagler Area
Ministerial Association (FAMA)
on the importance of everybody's
participation in the 2010 United States Census
The Executive Board and members of FAMA present at its meeting on February 11, 2010, issued this statement:
We are the religious leaders of Flagler County and we want you to participate fully in the 2010 Census. You can trust us when we tell you that it is entirely safe to give you information to the Census Bureau, even if you are an undocumented worker, fleeing prosecution or just concerned about a "big brother" government watching you!How is your information protected?
In addition to removing personally identifiable information, such as names, telephone numbers, and addresses, from data files, various approaches are used to protect your personal information; including computer technologies, statistical methodologies, and security procedures.
Census security measures ensure that only a restricted number of authorized people have access to private information and that access is only granted to conduct our work and for no other purposes. Every person who works with census confidential information collected by the Census Bureau is sworn for life to uphold the law.
Violating the confidentiality of a respondent is a federal crime with serious penalties, including a federal prison sentence of up to five years, a fine of up to $250,000, or both.
The U.S. Census Bureau guarantees that every person with access to your information is sworn for life to protect your confidentiality.
